Use Brand for changes that should travel
Colors, typography and shared layout settings belong in Brand. One intentional Brand change is easier to review than 44 independent overrides. Email-level and block-level styles are useful for exceptions.
Before starting a larger refresh, create a separate theme copy. You can compare it with your original and keep your live export untouched while you work.
Work in notification families
Group the work into order, shipping, account and return notifications. Ask Claude to list the available email keys, then inspect only the family it is changing. A focused batch is easier to understand and check than a full HTML rewrite.
The connection can apply up to 30 supported commands in one batch. A request identifier makes retries idempotent, and a sequence check refuses a batch if the workspace changed after it was read. Re-read and validate again when that happens.
Audit the authorized theme for consistency.
Start with shipping-related emails. Read their edit schemas.
Keep shared colors and type in Brand; use overrides only when needed.
Preserve event-specific tracking details and all Liquid data.
Dry-run a small batch, apply it, and report the affected email keys.
Stop before exporting or installing anything.Review a small matrix of real situations
Check a short and long heading, one and several products, a missing optional field, and both desktop and mobile previews. Try the rules with true and false conditions. Verify that every affected notification retains the details a customer needs.
For production acceptance, use Shopify test notifications and the email clients your customers use. Editor preview and operation validation do not replace those tests.
Keep control of the connection
Connections live under your account menu. Review which theme each connection can access and when it was last used. Revoke a connection when the job is done; its next request and refresh are refused. Logging out the session that authorized it also revokes that connection.
A Shopemail connection is separate from a Shopify connector. It grants draft-design access in Shopemail and does not grant Shopify admin access, customer access or permission to send notifications.
